Cooper Hewitt named the winners of its 2017 National Design Awards, with Deborah Berke Partners taking top honors in the interior design category, Metropolis publisher and editor in chief Susan S. Szenasy earning the Director’s Award, and Surfacedesign taking home the prize for landscape architecture. Hartmut Esslinger is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
