Job Description

The Outside Sales Associate is responsible for initiating, cultivating, and sustaining strong mutually beneficial relationships as a sales ambassador for RUE IV in Washington, DC, Virginia and West Virginia. This Associate is responsible for driving sales and generating revenue while providing the highest level of customer service. They will make formal presentations to design firms, but also utilize your time on the road to further deepen current relationships and find new clients. We are looking for an exceptional, polished professional continually striving to exceed client expectations.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in a sales position with proven results, preferably in the interior design industry
- Highly proficient in Google Workspace and familiar with ERP systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective and professional email etiquette
- Must be extremely organized and have excellent time management skills
- Maintains a high attention to detail: (customer: appointments, needs, interactions, projects, notes)
- Must be self-motivated to work independently without constant immediate supervision and directives.

Job Requirements

- Travel regularly and effectively throughout the entirety of the territory to maintain and grow relationships with clients
- Learn about RUE IV’s product offerings across all categories and participate in vendor product training and sales meetings
- Stay current on design industry news and trends
- Schedule regular product presentations with design firms to introduce our vendor’s and RUE IV’s latest and/or most relevant introductions.
- Build effective relationships with customers and potential customers by listening to their needs and educating them about products and services that are most appropriate to their project.
- Inquire about and promote RUE IV as a resource for project shops/schemes
- This position is responsible for lead gathering for prospective clients and projects
- Regularly update and maintain customers' sample libraries
- Generate a regular synopsis of your territory with updated goals for accounts and plans for future outreach.
- Travel efficiently throughout your territory for client appointments in your personal vehicle
- Travel for trade shows, trunk shows, industry events (internal or external) - occasional travel with vendors is required
- Educate customers on website tools.
- Inform customers of vendor and/or RUE IV promotions and events.
- Manage a budget for monthly expenses with the showroom manager, and submit all expenses to accounting for approved qualified reimbursements on a monthly basis.
- This position does have a required physical component as the associate will need to drive, stand for long periods of time, and transport large bags carrying road lines, catalogs and sampling
- Meet and exceed monthly and annual sales goals
- Follow up regularly on open quotes to close sales
