Job Description

Sanabria and Co is seeking an experienced Junior Designer to join our high-performing team in our Capitol Hill Studio. The Junior Designer will play a key role in supporting the design team throughout the entire project life cycle from project kickoff through final installation. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, technical proficiency in AutoCAD (SketchUp is a plus), and has the ability to collaborate with builders, architects and other members of our extended team.

Responsibilities:

- Assist lead designers in creating site surveys, taking accurate measurements, and documenting existing conditions
- Assist lead designers in developing design concepts and producing detailed drawings using AutoCAD and SketchUp. Specifically, the junior designer will be assisting with construction drawings, interior elevations, custom millwork details, tile layouts, and other architectural details, as needed.
- Coordinate with 3D rendering specialists to ensure that the design is accurately translated into 3D models and visualizations
- Help with sourcing of materials, furniture, and fixture selections, developing design boards, and preparing budgets for client presentations
- Request quotes from vendors and accurately enter items into Studio Designer to create proposals for clients
- Prepare for and attend client meetings, if appropriate
- Create and maintain schedules for paint, lighting, tile, and hardware
- Attend site visits, if necessary, and document action items; ensure plans on the job site are up to date
- Assist with install week logistics as well as coordinate and attend installations (wallpaper, window treatments, art, furniture, etc), as needed
- Responsible for the project punch list and ensuring that the wrap up activities (inventory report, care guide, etc) are completed

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design
- Two to three years of experience with AutoCAD and SketchUp to produce construction drawings for residential interior architecture projects
- Creative thinker with a solutions-oriented mindset
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and shift between tasks
- Self-starter who has the ability to move things forward independently
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be collaborative and thrive in a team environment
- Experience with Studio Designer
- Experience with Photoshop, Google Suite, and Asana (or similar project management tools) is a plus
- Has access to a car and a valid driver’s license

This is a full-time, in-person role based at our Washington, DC Studio.
