With the new year on the horizon, we asked 10 designers—Shivani Ajmera, Disha Bhavsar, Jess Ebert, Stacy Elliston, Megan Kornegay, Nick Maltese, Federico Pagetti, Regina Reaves, Robin Reaves and Lauren Wodicka—to share what they are most excited for in 2026.
Repeat Clients
“We are looking forward to several huge installs, in particular a basement remodeling project that is over 2,400 square feet for a return client. This will be the fourth time [we’re] going back to their home and making magic happen. We are so grateful for every client we have, but to create four times in a home is such an honor and privilege. Looking forward to bringing dreams to life for such a great family.” —Regina and Robin Reaves, R&R Interior Design 365, Charlotte
Dreams and Aspirations
“Looking ahead to 2026, what excites us most is the opportunity to continue making a meaningful mark within our industry, carrying forward a vision that embraces not only residential spaces but also hospitality and the broader world of luxury. We aim to further refine our sensibility and our design approach—which today we would describe as scenographic, maximal and post-rationalist—[and are welcoming] new key figures, international professionals with extensive experience across hospitality, residential design, architecture and yachting. This growth will enrich our skills, broaden our perspectives, and strengthen our ability to approach new markets with even greater confidence and depth.” —Nick Maltese and Federico Pagetti, Nick Maltese Studio, Milan
New Horizons
“After 10 years of running my design studio, 2026 is shaping up to be a year of big firsts. I’m building my own home for the first time, taking on my first out-of-state project, and putting out into the universe that I’d love to design a hospitality space—an Airbnb, a coffee shop, maybe even a restaurant. It feels good to push myself and to see where stepping outside my comfort zone takes me.” —Jess Ebert, Four Story Interiors, Charlotte
Common Ground
“We’re most looking forward to expanding our footprint in some of the country’s leading multifamily markets. As these regions continue to evolve, we’re excited by the opportunity to gain deeper insight into their unique resident base and design thoughtfully for the needs, preferences and lifestyles of the people who call these communities home. Our goal is to help developers cultivate a strong, meaningful brand identity that resonates directly with their target market. We’re eager to approach each project with creativity, collaboration and an unwavering commitment to exceptional design.” —Megan Kornegay, Level Five Designs, Raleigh, North Carolina
Building on the Foundation
“On a personal level, I am ready to start the new year with steady momentum after spending the bulk of 2025 doing the due diligence to lay the groundwork for my new company. I’ve also been enjoying learning [about] and implementing some AI tools to help streamline more time-consuming tasks. In 2026, I am excited to put it all together.” —Stacy Elliston, Hive Collaborative, Dallas
Standout Project
“We are eagerly looking forward to handing over one of our most exciting projects: Shinde Estate. Nestled in the village of Kurduvadi, on the outskirts of Solapur, this 15,000-square-foot multigenerational home is a modern reinterpretation of traditional Maratha-style wadas [courtyard-style homes]. Designed with sustainability at its core, the residence celebrates local heritage, craftsmanship and culture while aiming for green building certification.” —Shivani Ajmera and Disha Bhavsar, Quirk Studio, Mumbai, India
Quality of Life
“In a world where instant gratification is so accessible—especially with the surge of AI—I’m seeing a renewed interest from homeowners in creating thoughtful, collected homes. Clients are increasingly seeking pieces made by hand, collecting art and antiques, exploring customizations, and embracing the guidance of an interior designer to help shape the long-term evolution of their space.” —Lauren Wodicka, LBW Studio, Leesburg, Virginia
