In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.
Haley Pearson knows how to survive the cold days of February. Living in the Windy City, the JP Interiors designer is no stranger to harsh weather and freezing temperatures. “Chicago winters can be absolutely brutal, so we look for ways to spark joy,” she tells Business of Home.
In the spirit of nesting indoors, Pearson fashioned her current flat lay with an assortment of cozy textiles and uplifting pieces, such as a fringe-trimmed alpaca throw, flowery wallpaper and a glossy lacquered side table. “We love to incorporate timeless furnishings that don’t take themselves too seriously,” she says.
A deep brown vintage rug and neutral Carrara-and-Bardiglio marble floors ground the scheme in natural hues, while bright pops of color, including chartreuse and lime green, evoke the sunny motifs of the spring season ahead. “The mood here feels warm and welcoming; cheerful and happy,” she says. “The darker tones add warmth and a touch of drama, while the lighter colors add contrast and joy.”
Here, Pearson breaks down the details, from whimsical chinaware to a classic four-poster bed.
