“Hollywood, the First 100 Years” is the theme for the first-ever Wattles Mansion Showcase House, opening next week in Los Angeles. Eighteen local designers, among them Fernando Diaz, Carolyn Von Der Ahe and Shannon Gem, will transform rooms inspired by silver screen legends like Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor.
“My tribute is to those homes and rancheros that sat nestled in the sleepy San Fernando Valley of decades ago, those hacienda and adobe homes that represented a quiet life that many movie stars escaped to,” says designer Leslie Shapiro of Shapiro Joyal Studio, whose room will include work by Christopher Farr Gallery, Decorative Carpets, JF Chen Antiques, Rewire Lighting and Sumner Shop, as well as her own pieces.
The showcase is presented by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, in partnership with The American Society of Interior Designers and Angeleno magazine, and runs March 25 through April 17.
