Also nominated for the award: designers Kristin Victoria Barron of Kreist and Efe Kababulut of Lazzoni USA, as well as interior designer Sam Allen of Sam Allen Interiors.

Hearst Design Group Vice President Kate Kelly Smith presented the award, saying the pair founded their firm “based on a shared belief that glamour and elegance aren’t just for the movies, but rather can coexist comfortably with functionality in everyday life.”

She continued, “Their design practice is as diverse as it is synergistic, designing interiors and furnishings that are informed by their iconic, fashion-driven set designs for film and television, and creating sets that are informed by the way people live in their interiors.”

In her acceptance, Frantz commented the brand has “always been informed by fashion, from the smocking in our draperies to the skirt-pleats on our beds.” Indeed the pair are known for incorporating dressmaker details into their furniture collection for Edward Ferrell + Lewis Mittman as well as elaborate closets in both their bespoke interiors and sets for fashion-centric films like Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada.

The ceremony was held at Cipriani Midtown before an audience of fashion industry luminaries, with an opening keynote by celebrated American fashion designer Jason Wu, who won the award himself in 2008 and went on to design ensembles worn by Hollywood’s elite and Michelle Obama.

Awards were also presented for the following categories: Women’s Wear, Menswear, Fine Jewelry, Accessories, Retail, Business Innovation and Beauty/Fragrance.
