Fashion designer Mary Katrantzou has designed a one-of-a kind Christmas tree for the Design Museum in London this season. The tree incorporates patterns from her Fall/Winter 2012 Collection, which was inspired by everyday objects.
The 2D design is visible on the museum’s outer wall, measures over 9 feet tall. The tree combines Katrantzou’s trademark bold patterns with Christmas sparkle from design partner Swarovski.
“The print was inspired by formal gardens and artful box parterres,” said Katrantzou. “These were layered and overlaid to create an intricate maze-like print reminiscent of hand embroidered lace motif.”
Katrantzou’s clothes are sold in over 250 stores across the world. Her latest collection was nominated for this year’s Design Museum Designs of the Year Awards.
The Christmas tree will be on display at the museum in Shad Thames, London through Wednesday, Jan. 9.
