The American Society of Interior Designers has announced the keynote speakers for LAUNCH: The ASID National Student Summit, which will take place at Savannah College of Art and Design from February 26 to 28. The summit returns after a 20-year hiatus, with break-out sessions, hands-on engagement opportunities, professional development, networking events and more. Attendees will learn about interior design careers, as well as getting tips on polishing their résumés and portfolios, networking, and transitioning from student work to professional life.
This year, the new ASID Student Portfolio Competition invites those students with top portfolios to attend a one-on-one workshop at LAUNCH; they will also present their portfolios to a panel of judges and receive in-person feedback and be considered for a summer 2016 internship. The competition deadline is January 19, and entrants must be enrolled as students as of September 1, 2015. Learn more.
“LAUNCH has been designed to advance interior design students’ knowledge, increase their networking skills and offer professional resources meant to help them succeed in the profession,” said ASID CEO Randy Fiser. “We’re looking forward to an energizing and rewarding experience with our industry’s future leaders.”
LAUNCH will feature keynotes by Primo Orpilla, co-founder and principal at Studio O+A, which is known for workplace design for companies including Facebook, Levi Strauss, Microsoft, Uber and Yelp; and Brooke Traeger-Tumsaroch, ASID, design director at AvroKO (Bangkok), who oversees 30-plus designers working on custom hospitality projects.
