New York-based Interior Design Firm seeks a mid-level Interior Designer to join their team. Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of residential and commercial interior design experience and the ability to balance thoughtful creative direction with strong project management skills. An appreciation for classic design with a modern sensibility is essential.
In this firm, Interior Designers lead projects from concept through to installation, managing design development, client presentations, procurement, construction administration, and final installation.
Compensation Range: Salary commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree or Higher in Interior Design or Architecture
- 5+ years of professional experience at a residential interior design firm
Technical Skills:
- AutoCAD
- Adobe Creative Suite
- SketchUp
- Studio Designer
- Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite
Core Competencies:
- Strong project management skills
- Extensive knowledge of residential trade and antique resources
- Ability to mentor and supervise junior team members
- Team player, comfortable wearing many hats in a fast-paced boutique environment

Responsibilities:
- Creates and develops schematic designs in alignment with the Principal's vision and studio's aesthetic.
- Drafts floorplans, furniture plans, elevations, and electrical plans using AutoCAD.
- Manages and executes all client presentations — design concept, space planning, architectural elements, color schemes, fabric schemes, custom window treatments, and custom furniture.
- Oversees and manages all aspects of multiple design projects from inception through installation.
- Oversees shipping, storage, delivery, and installation of items, including site visits.
- Prepares hardware, plumbing, and paint schedules; builds comprehensive finish schedules.
- Produces light rendering work (e.g., fabrics on furniture plans in Photoshop; SketchUp for advanced renderings).
- Manages and prepares decorative/project budgets.
- Draws detailed spec sheets for custom furniture orders, by hand or in AutoCAD.
- Researches and sources product while maintaining existing vendor relationships.
- Creates client proposals and detailed vendor purchase orders.
- Corresponds with vendors daily on pricing, product details, specs, and tracking.
- Serves as the main day-to-day point of contact for clients under the Principal.

- Delegates to and oversees Design Assistants, mentoring and reviewing details, checklists, and processes
