Steven Avitable, others named ARTS Awards judges

Steven Avitable, Kelli Ellis, Bill G. Fortson, Caroline Hipple, Susan Inglis and Jaye Anna Mize have been named as the judges for Dallas Market Center’s 2017 ARTS Awards. The panel will tap winners across 24 categories, including Manufacturer, Retailer, Product Designer, Interior Designer, Sales Representative and Green Award.

Some background on the judging panel:

Avitable, who launched The Home Co. and has worked at Robert Allen | Beacon Hill, Ralph Lauren Home and Christopher Guy, currently serves as SVP of business development at Steelyard.

Ellis, a design psychology expert, artist, licensee and speaker, is the founder of Design Campus and author of the best-selling book Do I Look Skinny in This House? She will star in the new show Design Therapy, launching on The Design Network this season. 

Fortson, who opened BJ’s in 1979, is current president of BJ’s Home Accents, and has served on advisory boards for Dallas Market Center and Home Accents Today.

Hipple is president of Norwalk Furniture Company and previously served as chief energy officer for HB2 Resources

Inglis is executive director at Sustainable Furnishings Council and founder of From the Mountain.

Mize is home interiors director for the trend-forecasting agency Fashion Snoops.

The 28th iteration of the ARTS Awards will unfold January 20, 2017, and is open to anyone in the home furnishings industry, including manufacturers, retailers, sales representatives, designers, suppliers, consultants and other industry professionals.
