Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Design Assistant to join our growing studio. Reporting to the Principal, the Design Assistant will play a key role in supporting projects from concept through installation. This is a unique opportunity for a design professional who thrives in a fast-paced studio environment and is eager to grow within a high-end residential design studio.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supporting the Principal and team across all phases of residential projects, from initial concept development through installation and styling
Prepare and managing project documents including AutoCAD drawings, InDesign presentations, and Photoshop illustrations
Track all orders, proposals, invoices, vendor payments and client payments through Designer Manager
Maintain project documentation including project trackers, schedules, and tear sheets; communicate project status with vendors, architects and contractors
Create project budgets and scopes
Assist in researching and sourcing furniture, lighting, textiles, antiques, and decorative accessories aligned with project direction and budget
Prepare presentation materials, design boards, floor plans, elevations, and spec sheets
Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, workrooms, and tradespeople to obtain samples, lead times, and shipping information
Lead sample library organization, including ordering, cataloging, and maintaining materials, fabrics, and finishes
Log progress updates from workrooms and proactively communicate status updates to the team
Attend client meetings, take detailed notes, and follow up on actionable items
Manage site visits and installations
Provide studio support and administrative assistance to ensure projects run smoothly and on schedule

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture required; MFA in Interior Design or related field preferred
3+ years of experience at an interior design firm, architecture firm, or related creative studio with strong project management skills
Exceptional organization with a high level of attention to detail
Strong eye for design with a passion for residential interiors and antiques
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop), Google Workspace and Design Manager
Ability to create furniture plans
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with vendors, clients, and tradespeople
Proactive and resourceful with a strong sense of accountability
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced studio environment
Positive, collaborative attitude and willingness to take on tasks of all sizes
