Job Description

This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced and highly passionate Purchasing Manager to join this highly collaborative and sought after design firm located in the city. This is a full-time position working in the office 4 days a week with WFH Fridays. The ability to commute or relocate to San Francisco is a must.

Responsible for overseeing the entire buying process for each of our client projects, this includes obtaining, evaluating and organizing quotations, ordering samples, placing purchase orders, tracking and expediting, arranging for receiving and inspection as well as planning for and managing installation.

The ideal candidate has impeccable organization skills, is extremely personable, intelligent, logical, articulate, hard working and self-motivated. Business knowledge, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a keen eye for detail is needed to thrive in this highly creative environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as purchasing agent for all retail, showroom and custom furniture, fixtures and equipment across multiple projects
Order/return samples
Research and present alternatives to design team when requested
Working with Junior Designers and Design Assistants to request quotes from vendors with pricing, shipping and lead time
Manage expediting end-to-end; send orders to vendors and track vendor timelines
Maintain internal database of the most suitable suppliers as far as reliability, product quality and price
Weekly reporting to keep the Principal and design team informed on status of orders for each project
Input quotes and purchase orders into project management/ordering software
Submit and/or request payment from accounting and track payment
Manage receiving and warehouse storage for all furniture, lighting and accessories including an inventory of all items in storage
Coordinate customs process and shipping on all international orders including necessary documentation for customs clearance

Job Requirements

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Passion for and working knowledge of the Interior Design industry
High School Diploma/GED required, college-level degree preferred
5+ years of professional experience in a similar role, preferably in interior design or architecture
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace, and iOS
Proficient with Interior Design purchasing software: Ivy and Studio Designer strongly preferred
Knowledge of QuickBooks and Basecamp preferred, with an overall aptitude to learn new software as needed
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of interior design

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adaptable to changing needs as required
Must be extremely detail-oriented, accurate and consistent
Strong creative problem-solving abilities, organizational and time management skills
Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to interact with management, peers, and other staff in a kind & professional manner
Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships
High level of integrity and adherence to the firm’s values, beliefs, and principles of innovation and excellence in design
