Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategy, creative concept, and execution of marketing actitivies for the Summer Thornton Design brand.
- Personally create, edit, and post photo/video imagery & content to the Summer Thornton Instagram page & website
- Work with outside videographers and editors on video content edits
- Personally manage the development of creative content across multiple platforms including but not limited to instagram, pinterest, e-mail newsletter, website, popular external blogs, videos, etc
- Create a content calendar & distribution schedule leveraging various platforms to maximize exposure for the Summer Thornton brand & personally deploy content against said calendar
- Establish & build relationships with key influencers & brands in the social media space for cross-promotion, partnership, & brand-building opportunities
- Develop strategies & tactics to maximize online sharing of Summer Thornton content through instagram, pinterest, popular blogs, and more
- Develop strategies & tactics to maximize followers & subscribers to Summer Thornton social media pages & newsletter
- Create & deploy quarterly or semi-monthly e-newsletters highlighting key updates about the brand to followers
- Personally update website through wordpress CMS including adding project imagery & press articles; manage the redesign and launch of a new website
- Assist the Managing Director with other marketing activities including mailings, sourcing requests, photoshoots, editor quotes & imagery requests, PR, etc
- Assist in the accessorizing & styling of rooms for photo shoots; and in some cases for smaller shoots of before imagery and/or in-progress photos personally facilitate the shoot unassisted
- May require up to 10% travel out-of-state

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications & Skills:

- Minimum of 4+ years (ideally 6+) professional experience in related field (social media, marketing, art direction, graphic design, web design, photography, videography, etc)
- Avid consumer of high quality editorial content & ideally an experienced contributor (writer, photographer, graphic designer, editor) of such content
- Bachelors degree in Art, Marketing, or related fields (photography, graphic design, marketing, etc)
- Extensive knowledge & passion for the interior design & architecture industry including awareness of notable brands, leading designers & architects, design magazines & books, etc
- Impeccable aesthetic taste as well as alignment with Principal’s design style and philosophies
- Photo & video-editing
- Ability to problem-solve, try new things, and seek solutions with limited supervisor direction
- Experience with wordpress, Squarespace, or other back-end CMS for creating online content preferred but not required
- Proactive self-starter – shows both initiative and detailed follow-through/completion
- Strong attention to detail & strong organizational skills
- Positive and fun, team player, utmost integrity, honesty, & no-drama/ego attitude a necessity

This is an in-office position in our Lincoln Park (Chicago) office.
