This is a full time, management-level position for an experienced, hands-on, positive and reliable Interior Designer to work directly with the Principal on all aspects of design and project management. This Designer is expected to translate the Principal's aesthetic vision into client presentations, communicate project design both verbally and visually, and embody the spirit and professionalism of the firm. This Designer will manage the work and professional development of Associate Designers and Design Assistants, and lead the Design Team at large.
Qualification Standards:
- Degree in Interior Design.
- Minimum of 7 years interior design experience.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including space planning, hand and digital drafting.
- Extensive experience selecting and specifying lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor/window coverings, materials, and finishes.
- Provides top-level innovative design concepts.
- Experience with managing purchasing and budgets.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Studio Designer experience.
- Can work under pressure, produce deliverables and meet deadlines.
- Experience managing design staff on project teams.
- Current driver's license with access to car.

Administrative Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple project deadlines, scopes, budgets, and design aesthetics simultaneously.
- Collaborate with the Studio Director on project management, staffing, and studio resourcing.
- Oversee client design time invoicing, pricing data, purchase orders, and project tracking systems.
- Maintain accurate project action items and workflow coordination through Asana and Studio Designer.
Personnel/Human Resources Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor Associate Designers and Design Assistants across multiple projects.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Design Team at large.
- Participate in hiring, training, development, and performance reviews of Design Team members.
Business Development:
- Lead photoshoot coordination, styling, and onsite facilitation.
- Maintain and grow relationships with vendors, workrooms, and trade resources.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and showroom openings.
Client Management:
- Attend client meetings and clearly communicate design direction and solutions.
- Review and approve client orders, vendor purchase orders, budgets, and project documentation.
- Coordinate installations, scheduling, and project deliverables with the Studio Director.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with timelines, budgets, and billable design hours.
- Maintain thoughtful, professional relationships with clients and vendors.
Design:
- Develop furniture plans, finish schemes, custom furnishings, and client presentations.
- Source furniture, lighting, textiles, wallcoverings, and finishes aligned with project goals and budgets.
- Oversee vendor quoting, project specifications, construction schedules, and documentation accuracy.
- Coordinate vendor meetings, site visits, installations, and expediting logistics.
- Maintain accurate project records, tear sheets, customization notes, and specifications throughout all phases of the project.
