Smith Home is hiring a part-time, freelance Interior Designer to support the Principle Designer and Team with ongoing residential interior design projects, as well as capture and curate content for the firm's social media. This role will require a wide range of duties and
responsibilities (listed below). This is for an individual with a detailed design eye and content creation experience. We are looking for a kind and enthusiastic individual with a great attitude, exceptional communication skills, and a problem-solving mindset. The ideal candidate will be quick to pick up on the studio’s design aesthetic and share interesting and original design ideas. They will excel at following up with vendors, clients, and designers to ensure all projects and tasks are moving forward and all parties have up-to-date
information at all times. The Designer will be responsible for working within a team environment as well as collaborating directly with the Principal Designer. They will work on multiple projects simultaneously, helping clients of various size and scale to achieve their design goals. Candidates with a background in the Interior Design industry are preferred.
• Design thoughtful, functional and intentional spaces based on client needs while maintaining the Smith Home aesthetic
• Capture interesting and beautiful photos and videos, organize for social media content, create grid, reels, and story posts, work with Principle to develop monthly social media content calendar.
• Maintain social media calendar and respond to DMs and comments.
• Assist on multiple projects at a time through all phases of design- client onboarding/ discovery, concept, design, procurement and installation
• Source materials for hard finishes, soft finishes, soft goods, custom pieces, and etc. as
requested
• Collaborate with team on design ideas, inspiration, and design details to elevate
projects wherever possible
• Receive constructive feedback and make edits, changes to designs as requested
• Travel to work rooms, sites, and vendor locations for quality check ins, if needed
• Upload information for design selections from design boards to our software system with relevant information in a detailed way that avoids errors.
• Update each project’s selections and project details as edits are made throughout the project
• Keep information on each assigned project updated and clearly communicated.
• Attend client presentations and on site project meetings to take notes and assist with follow up for meeting outcomes, if needed
• Consistently share details and updates with construction, design and overall team
• Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner with thorough follow up. If obstacles arise, consult the principal designer to ensure a solution is found.
• Order samples + assist in preparation of sample trays for meetings
• Assist with furniture installations and styling
• Assist with Photoshoots
