We’re seeking a versatile and thoughtful Interior Designer with strong interior architectural skills to support and shape complex residential projects from concept through completion. This is a hybrid role for someone who thrives at the intersection of creativity and precision—someone just as comfortable sourcing a vintage armchair as they are sketching a millwork detail or refining a client presentation. You’ll collaborate closely with the principals and design team throughout the full project lifecycle, contributing to design development, sourcing, technical documentation, procurement, and client engagement.
In addition to hands-on design work, you’ll play a key role in structuring and tracking project deliverables. You’ll help guide internal reviews, maintain clear and proactive communication with clients, and keep projects moving with clarity and purpose. The right candidate brings a strong design sensibility, an eye for nuance, and a genuine interest in understanding and articulating a client’s point of view through design.
We’re looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience in interior design, ideally with a focus on high-end residential work. Experience in interior architecture is a strong plus. You should be confident working across a range of platforms, including AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and the usual suspects in Microsoft Office. Strong visual communication and presentation skills are essential, along with a sharp eye for materials, detail, proportion, and composition. You should be comfortable producing scaled drawings, schedules, and custom detailing, and bring experience with procurement and vendor coordination.
The salary range for this role is $78,000 to $88,000, commensurate with experience. We offer health benefits, paid vacation and holidays, and support for professional development. After 12 months, employees are eligible for both 401(k) contributions and profit-sharing. More than anything, we of
We’re looking for a designer who thrives in the details and sees the big picture. This role supports concept and design development by helping translate narrative, context, and user experience into architectural and interior layouts—from floor plans and furniture arrangements to millwork, cabinetry, and built-in details. You’ll help bring early ideas to life through mood boards, material palettes, and precedent packages that communicate design intent and atmosphere. We value both digital and analog thinking, so you’ll generate studies that explore form, materiality, and spatial relationships in whatever medium works best. You’ll also assist in producing compelling visuals and renderings to support both internal reviews and client presentations.
On the technical side, you’ll be responsible for preparing and updating drawing sets with precision in AutoCAD or Revit (and bonus points if you’re comfortable in SketchUp or Enscape). You'll draft interior elevations, sections, and construction details with clarity and care, and collaborate closely with project leads to ensure coordination across disciplines. In parallel, you’ll support FF&E sourcing and documentation—researching furnishings, fixtures, and lighting; assembling tear sheets and pricing; liaising with vendors for samples and quotes; and tracking procurement and delivery logistics.
This is a client-facing role, too. You’ll attend meetings, take clear notes, prep presentation decks and material trays, and help translate client feedback into actionable design iterations. You’ll also play a key part in keeping our projects organized—maintaining sample libraries and project folders, tracking deliverables and deadlines, and coordinating sample returns or deliveries as needed.
Beyond the project work, we’re looking for someone who contributes to the life of the studio. That means asking great questions in design reviews, bringing curiosity and initiative to new tools and processes, and participating in conversation
Frances Mildred is a design studio grounded in rigor, guided by deep respect for materials, and committed to creating work with clarity and purpose. Our practice spans both architecture and interiors, rooted in the belief that space profoundly shapes how people live and feel. Curiosity drives us. Craft centers us. And our process is never just a means to an end—it’s an essential part of what we deliver. Every decision we make is in service of design that is not only beautiful, but deeply intentional.
We’re a close-knit team that values conversation, shared authorship, and the slow, steady effort required to make something exceptional. We don’t believe in fast answers or decorative moves. We believe in asking better questions, pushing the work further, and giving form to ideas that matter. Our approach is collaborative and precise, with high standards and a deep sense of care—toward our clients, our team, and the work itself.
At the heart of our practice are five values that guide how we think and work. Craft is integrity: every detail carries weight, and we design with intention at every scale. Collaboration is everything: we believe in honest dialogue, mutual respect, and the kind of trust that makes great work possible. Space holds power: material, proportion, and purpose are always considered in concert, never isolation. Rigor makes beauty possible: we know that excellence is earned through persistence, not improv. And responsibility is a privilege: we don’t take for granted the trust our clients place in us—we honor it, through discipline, transparency, and thoughtful leadership.
