Studio MUKA is seeking an Interior Designer to join our team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a breadth of knowledge on all facets of the industry and a keen eye for design. This role is based in Los Angeles and will be working in close collaboration with the studio's principals on a multitude of projects across the country. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for design and project management including communication, organization, budgeting, proactiveness and resourcefulness amongst other things. The candidate will be excited to work in a dynamic and collaborative studio on both high end residential and commercial/retail projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the design principals from Concept Design through Construction Administration phases to design and complete projects.
Work closely and collaboratively with architectural designers, consultants, reps and other project team members.
Source and organize materials, furniture, lighting, and finishes in accordance with the design vision.
Create design presentations for client meetings.
Participate in client meetings and client correspondence in a responsible and organized fashion.
Assist in creating and updating project schedules, timelines, and budgets to ensure smooth project execution.
Collaborate with the design team to create mood boards, sketches, 3D renderings, and technical drawings for design presentations.
Support the team with administrative tasks, project documentation, and design research.
Stay current on design trends, materials, and new product innovations to bring fresh ideas to the studio’s work.
Support the design of bespoke furniture, fixtures, and accessories that align with the studio’s aesthetic and brand vision.
Qualifications:
A degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
3-4+ years of Interior Design experience in a similar role in a design practice.
Experience in high-end residential projects and retail/commercial projects.
Experience in concept development through construction drawings.
Proficiency in 3D modeling and drafting software (AutoCAD & Rhino).
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.)
Exceptional knowledge and interest in the history of architecture and the decorative arts.
Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, materials, and finishes.
Knowledge & interest in construction and materiality.
Experience with managing fabricators and project teams.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Attention to beauty, utility, design, strong visual skills, detail, proportions, color and form.
Mature, critical and professional.
Knowledge of sustainability & interest in passive systems.
Self-motivated individual able to work independently and collaboratively.
Enjoys problem solving & learning.
