Job Description

HYBRID IN-PERSON/WFH, BOSTON AREA ONLY: Kathleen Walsh Interiors, a boutique, NYC and Wellesley MA based residential interior design firm, is seeking an exceptionally talented, seasoned, F/T (or 32 hrs a week for an exceptional candidate seeking a flexible schedule) Interior Architect/Technical Interior Designer to join us in the BOSTON area. This position's primary responsibility is to produce accurate and coordinated construction documentation level drawings related to interior architectural design, including highly articulated design detailing of millwork, kitchen and bath design and custom furnishings. The position also requires coordination and communication of FF&E schedules, researching fixtures and materials, site surveys, managing CAD, and participating in regular site visits to report back progress and developments with the team and clients. We problem-solve, find creative solutions and balance aesthetics, budget and aspirations all day long, and are looking for a new team member to dive into the details with us. The position is structured as a hybrid position, with dedicated hours working alongside the Principal in Wellesley MA, hours to mostly WFH and candidates must have flexibility for occasional travel days to visit job sites throughout MA, Cape and Islands, CT and NYC area.

The ideal candidate will be extremely self-motivated and have the ability to work on multiple projects at once, with both technical acumen and creative leadership. Demonstrated experience with luxury renovations in city townhouses, co-ops/condos, as well as suburban homes, and being able to speak of previous involvement in construction, is critical. Candidate should have a strong preference for private residential interiors work, for working with a small but skilled team, and demonstrate a desire to share knowledge and continue to grow and learn.

Job Requirements

Requirements for this position are as follows:

-Positivity, confidence, can-do attitude
-Share outlook that no job is too small, we all pitch in to get things done
-Strong knowledge base in nuts and bolts of how things get made- if you don't know, you ask questions and figure it out
-Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture or Interior Design
-A minimum of 5 years of relevant F/T professional experience in a Residential Interiors or Architecture firm. Please note we have a preference for a team member with more years of experience or who arrived to residential after working in other parts of the industry.
-Strong communication, organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
-Command of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suites
-A proven track record of leadership and participation in industry events and educational opportunities
-A comfort with working with a small team environment, core members are in NY and MA
-A highly professional demeanor

Applicants must:

-Be able to work regular hours, and have a dedicated, in-person meeting schedule with the Principal + virtual team
-Be available for occasional work during later or earlier hours as needed
-Be legally able to work within the United States
-Hold a valid, current US drivers license and be able to drive
-Travel to job sites both nearby and in surrounding states
