Dichotomy Interiors is a boutique residential interior design studio specializing in warm modern homes that blend nature, art, and architecture. Based in the Hudson Valley with projects throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC metro area, we are seeking a Junior Designer/Design Assistant to support Principal across all components and phases of multiple simultaneous projects.
This role is ideal for an extremely organized, self-motivated junior designer with strong communication skills and a deep attention to detail. The position is hybrid with in office and remote work supported alongside regular site visits in the Hudson Valley, Manhattan, Brooklyn and beyond. Applicant must be able to work in the Kingston, NY studio part of the week and ability to visit sits in the Hudson Valley and Catskills region on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Keeping studio organized, stocked and samples and trade accounts up to date
Placing and tracking orders, manage shipping and receiving, and coordinating with storage vendors
Scheduling installations and overseeing delivery logistics
Collaborating regularly with the Principal Designer
Managing vendor communication, gathering quotes, and managing project documentation via Google Suite
Coordinating with contractors, artisans, and tradespeople
Creating and updating AutoCAD plans, elevations, and construction documents
Contributing to design development through mood boards, mock ups, sourcing, and technical drawings
Contributing to or updating visual presentations and brand content, social media content, and helping with photoshoots
Must be able to work in the Kingston NY office and travel to project sites in the Hudson Valley/Catskills area and NYC metro area
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Excellent time management skills, ability to take initiative and follow up
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Experience in interior design or a related creative field
3years + of professional design experience (residential preferred) either with a studio or independently
Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or Art (Preferred)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite (photoshop, illustrator, Acrobat) and the Google Suite (Slides, Docs, Sheets)
Understanding of Architectural Plans
Passion and love for modern and contemporary design and art

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment
