Job Description

Jessica Alex Interiors is seeking an Interior Design Assistant to join our growing boutique design firm.

You will work closely with the principal designer on high-end residential projects from initial concept and design development through installation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across every aspect of the design process. We're looking for someone with a passion for timeless, collected and layered interiors who is excited to join a collaborative studio where they can make a meaningful contribution. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, enjoys problem solving, detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:
Sourcing furniture, lighting, materials, and finishes; including frequent visits to New York City's design centers.
Creating mood boards, design presentations, and material palettes.
Assisting in the design and development of custom furniture, upholstery, window treatments, pillows, and decorative details.
Preparing floor plans, elevations, and design documentation using AutoCAD.
Overseeing custom furniture fabrication from approval through installation.
Managing procurement, including order placement, vendor communication, order tracking, lead time management, and issue resolution.
Developing and maintaining project budgets, schedules, and procurement trackers.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position based in our New York City office.
Monday - Thursday: In-office
Friday: Remote
Occasional travel to project sites throughout New York City, Connecticut, and the Hamptons is required, as well as attendance at installations, client meetings, and photoshoots when scheduled.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field OR equivalent professional experience.
Previous experience working in an interior design firm, preferably with high-end residential projects.
Understanding of both residential interior design and construction workflows.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with SketchUp and/or Revit is a plus.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with Design Manager or similar project management/accounting software is preferred.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
Willingness to travel to project sites throughout New York City, Connecticut, and the Hamptons as needed.
