Job Description

Join the team at Kate Marker Interiors (KMI) as a Design Assistant, where you will play an integral role in supporting client design projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with the design team to ensure the timely delivery of projects within budget, and timelines. As a Design Assistant at KMI, you will actively participate in markets and vendor presentations, enhancing your knowledge of the industry as it evolves.

The successful applicant will be part of the design team. Design assistants collaborate with Kate Marker, lead designers, vendors, contractors, procurement manager and operations director at KMI and clients to find solutions that accomplish the clients’ design goals. The successful applicant will be motivated, highly organized, and have a positive attitude. The position is full-time and in person at our Barrington, IL studio.

Key Responsibilities:
Create / revise furniture and electrical plans and detailed interior elevations in AutoCAD.
Organize and maintain the materials library in the studio.
Develop / maintain relationships with new and existing clients, contractors, and vendors.
Create and revise Finish Schedules, Paint Schedules, and Various Presentations.
Create and revise plumbing, appliance, and lighting schedules.
Create meeting agendas, take notes during meetings, and provide to the design team.
Create presentations of selections for client review (using KeyNote).
Assist in administrative duties as necessary.

**Other duties will include contacting vendors and contractors; researching new products and vendors; and making selections for furniture, fixtures, etc.; and assisting with installations.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design
Demonstrate solid knowledge of the residential design industry
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Utilize AutoCAD, Studio Designer, KeyNote **Revitt would be a plus
Travel is required on occasion for client projects and continuing education.
