Why making exceptions to your process can be more trouble than it’s worth

A client-sourced contractor threw a wrench in Naïka Andre’s vision, motivating her to implement new guardrails on future projects.

When a client asked Naïka Andre for help making a new Chicago apartment feel like home, the founder of Connecticut-based NJA Interiors leaped at the opportunity. Still, it was clear from the outset that the job would be different than their previous work together. For one, the space was a rental, so the design had to be easy to undo. The client would also be overseeing the construction herself while living in the space. Finally, she had a friend who owned a painting company that she wanted to work with.
