Edgy neighborhoods are emerging as hosts for interior design showrooms in Los Angeles and New York. 

JF Chen has opened C Project, a 5,600 sq. ft. store open to both the trade and to retail customers, at 830 N. Highland Avenue in south Hollywood.  The space features thoughtfully curated areas designed by founder Joel Chen that mix museum-quality vintage furniture with contemporary pieces, lighting and accessories.

Designers will enter an urbanely industrial space through a Michael Wilson-designed door  to a mix of decorative objects from some of the world’s most influential names like a Vestergaard sofa next to a Hans Wegner daybed and Marcel Wanders rope chairs.

“Highland Avenue is really starting to become a new hot spot,” noted Chen. “We wanted to build on our existing business by showcasing some of my favorite pieces in carefully arranged concepts and opening it up to everyone interested in great design.”

Naula, a manufacturer of custom high end furniture, has announced the opening of its new location that encompasses a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse, manufacturing facility and showroom, at 349 Suydam Street in Brooklyn.

The showroom will feature Naula’s SoHo and Premier Collections as well as radical custom prototypes for celebrity clients. Naula will feature works from Triple Edwards, Reetdas, and other celebrated local artisans of lighting, textiles, and accessories.

“The showroom juxtaposes the grittiness of a factory and the clean sleek look of a SoHo showroom which essentiaaly embodies the character of our East Williamsburg neighborhood."

Naula’s custom pieces have been designed in close collaboration with such acclaimed interior designers and architects as Robin Wilson, Jamie Drake, Kelly Behun, Philip Gorrivan, and Mark Zeff.  He has completed high-profile residential projects for Robert Kennedy Jr., Lenny Kravitz, Hugh Jackman, Norah Jones, and Rupert Murdoch, as well as commercial projects for Mandarin Oriental NY, LaGuardia Airport, and various celebrated restaurants. His work has also been featured in such notable venues as Esquire SoHo, Pulse Contemporary Art, Maison de Luxe Beverly Hills, and the Hampton Designer Showhouse.
