Sherman Cohen, one of the founding brothers of Cohen Brothers Realty Corporation (CBRC) and noted philanthropist, died Tuesday in Manhattan at age 91.
CBRC owns and manages many New York City residential and commercial buildings, as well as the Cohen Design Centers: the Decoration and Design Building, Pacific Design Center, Decorative Center Houston and the Design Center of the Americas. Mr. Cohen's son, Charles S. Cohen, is President and CEO of the company.

Longtime philanthropists, Sherman and his wife Gloria Cohen donated $6 million to build a new career center at the College of William and Mary, where Mr. Cohen attended college in the 1940's.
They have also supported the Sherman and Gloria H. Cohen Pavilion at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Conn., and medical education and research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. They are also major contributors to the United Jewish Appeal Federation and are among the largest contributors to the Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.
