In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.
Meg Lonergan turns to nature for inspiration. The Texas designer, who splits her time between Houston and Austin, draws from the hues and textures of the great outdoors to foster spaces that strike a balance between soothing and sophisticated.
Designed with a coastal residence in mind, Lonergan’s current flat lay showcases a medley of fluid lines, organic materials and modern maritime motifs. “The mood is both relaxed and refined,” she tells Business of Home. “Outdoor-inspired pieces mixed with clean, contemporary lines evoke a sense of tranquil luxury, much like the peacefulness of the shore.”
Unifying the mood board are sea-fueled pieces ranging from conch-clad mirrors to seashell-patterned fabrics and weather-safe, midcentury-style seating. “The theme of coastal modernism ties it all together, uniting natural textures with sleek, modern design to create an effortlessly chic and scenic aesthetic,” says Lonergan.
