From innovative lighting to forward-thinking fabrics and the production of one renowned architect’s long-unrealized designs, EAL’s latest roundup of designer-manufacturer pairings promises a healthy heaping of designer-approved debuts.

Rapson and Leland International
Architect Ralph Rapson first designed furniture in 1939, at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, but much of his work was never produced. Today, with the approval of Rapson’s family, Leland International has released the Rapson Thirty-Nine series, which includes a lounge chair, side chair, bench and stools available in ash or walnut veneer and engraved with the architect’s signature. 

Barry Dixon and Avrett
Designers Barry Dixon and Peyton Avrett of Avrett are launching Revolutions, their second collaboration, featuring a furniture and lighting design collection defined by what the brand calls “retro lines and organic silhouettes.” Pieces are customizable with tailored material and sizes, as well as finishes including satin brass, brushed steel and gray bronze. 

Kendall Wilkinson and Fabricut
West Coast designer Kendall Wilkinson has debuted her first collection with Fabricut, a line of indoor-outdoor fabrics offered in a wide variety of patterns, in three books organized by color: Ocean, Sand Dune and Sunrise. “For Kendall’s first collection with Fabricut, she takes the inspiration from the elements: sky, earth, water and fire,” shares Kirsten Wolfe, director of marketing at Fabricut. “The colors, scents and sounds of her environment are all highly influential on her design work and this line of indoor/outdoor fabric. Focus is on two high-level themes, the first pattern family is organic and loose, the second is more geometric and formal.”

Piero Lissoni and Boffi
Milan-based architect Piero Lissoni has collaborated with Boffi on a new kitchen and bathroom program that invites clients to customize their kitchens. Originally launched at the 2016 Milan Design Week, the collaboration is now appearing in Boffi’s new London showroom. The kitchen design features gray marble worktops and doors in abonos oak, a fossil wood. The bathroom design includes finger-joint drawers and open-faced compartments, with natural oak with knots and gray marble top.

Meredith Heron and JF Fabrics and Crypton Home
JF Fabrics has released two new collections, adding to its five-part Meredith Heron Crypton Home Color Concepts series. “I really wanted this collection to reflect what we all want to give our clients,” explains the Meredith Heron. “You know when you’re showing fabrics to a client that they are going to latch on to one of them and it becomes your cornerstone. I think you’re going to have a lot of starting points with this collection.” The series incorporates pastel blues, blush pinks, bright yellows and emerald greens, and each fabric is finished with the Crypton Home treatment.
