Designers—both those summiting the peak of their careers and those just emerging—are being hailed as this year’s “Stars” by the Decoration and Design Building. This year’s Stars of Design and Stars on the Rise honorees, announced last week, will be feted at both an October 13 cocktail party and an October 14 black-tie dinner, on-site at Upper Story by Charlie Palmer. The celebration will continue throughout the design center’s 50th anniversary Fall Market. A jury made up of previous honorees and other industry luminaries included Jury Chair Matthew Patrick Smyth, a Star of Design 2011; Brad Ford, a Star on the Rise 2012; Irene Edwards of Lonny Magazine; Eric Daniels of Fashion Institute of Technology; and Tomas Georgi of Donghia.

The eighth annual Stars of Design awards honor contributions made in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, industrial/product design, and landscape design and photography. There is also a lifetime achievement award granted each year.

The 2015 Stars of Design honorees are as follows:

Architecture: Steven Harris
Art: Tom Otterness
