The Be Original Americas Summer Design Fellowship, a seven-week program that matches two students with top design companies, is now accepting student applications. Participating companies include Bernhardt Design, Carnegie, Design Within Reach, Emeco, Flavor Paper, Herman Miller, Rich Brilliant Willing and Vitra.

The fellowship, which will run June 12 to August 1, will introduce two college students to the entire design progress, “from research, design and manufacturing to marketing, sales and distribution through hands-on, in-the-field learning,” notes Be Original Americas. It will also include visits to Be Original Americas member companies’ showrooms, headquarters and factories.
“You can only learn so much in school, but until you see how everything works together in the industry, you can’t fully understand what you’re even designing. This experience exposed me to so many new things that I had never heard of before,” says 2016 Fellow Sarah Ahart.
The fellowship is open to undergrads who live in the U.S. and have completed at least two years of school. It closes February 28.
