April’s can’t-miss design events

The start of spring is an eventful time in the design industry, with gatherings to attend all over the world. From yearly staples like High Point Market and Design ADAC to international favorites like Salone del Mobile, read on for BOH’s list of next month’s industry shows and events.

PAD Paris
Paris | April 3–7
This year PAD Paris, which was created in 1998, is taking place at the Tuileries Garden. The fair brings together dozens of international and French contemporary and historical art and design dealers, including Atkris Studio, Galerie Chevalier-Parsua and Maison Parisienne. Artexpo New York
New York | April 4–7
At the Lower East Side’s Pier 36, Artexpo will host more than 170 exhibiting galleries, artists and publishers from across the globe, including Adam Rose, Muskaw Art House and The Gallery Steiner. The fair showcases everything from original artwork, prints and paintings to sculpture, photography and lithographs. For more information, click here.

Pioneering Design: “Untold Parallels in Design: An Intimate Conversation”
New York | April 10
The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter presents a conversation with Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen and IIDA CEO Cheryl S. Durst, covering topics like the industry’s current landscape, trends and predictions. For more information, click here.

Robern Pop-Up Shop
New York | April 12–18
Robern is hosting a weeklong pop-up shop in SoHo. A selection of the Philadelphia-based brand’s vanities, mirrors and linen cabinets, as well as faucets from Kallista and tile from Ann Sacks, will be available at up to 65 percent off. For more information, click here.

High Point Spring Market
High Point, North Carolina | April 13–17
The biannual event returns to bring together over 80,000 industry professionals and present the latest trends, product debuts and networking opportunities. Spring Market will also showcase dozens of exhibitors, conferences and educational resources. Notable panels include the keynote “Designing a Business that Endures,” featuring The Business of Home Podcast host Dennis Scully and designers Joanna Gaines, Brigette Romanek and Amber Lewis, who will offer tips on how to build a design business that can withstand today’s unpredictable world; “The Asian American Experience: A Conversation with AAPI Founders & Entrepreneurs,” moderated by Business of Home editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen, with Swati Bansal, Ray Hallare, Noz Nozawa and Lia Shin sharing their career trajectories and how representation has impacted their work; and “Chaddock: The Cut Above,” where Margot Shaw, the founder and editor in chief of Flower magazine, will talk with three of North Carolina–based furniture company Chaddock’s designers about what makes a piece “the best.” For more information, click here.

Salone del Mobile Milano
Milan| April 16–21
The 62nd edition of the Salone del Mobile Milano is being held at Fiera Milano Rho. The event will feature hundreds of exhibitors, such as Arper and Dedon, and thousands of products for the over 370,000 visitors that attend each year from 188 different countries. What will set 2024’s fair apart from previous ones is its single level of exhibitors (rather than two), which will enhance accessibility for attendees. For more information, click here.

Dialogues on Design: Kit Kemp
New York | April 18
Kit Kemp will join The Business of Home Podcast host Dennis Scully for the sixth installment of the New York School of Interior Design’s latest Dialogues on Design series. The founder and creative director of Firmdale Hotels and the Kit Kemp Design Studio has garnered an acclaimed reputation for her colorful hotel interiors as well as for her textile, fragrance and home goods designs. In this conversation, Kemp will discuss her illustrious career and Firmdale’s newest project, the Warren Street Hotel in Tribeca. For more information, click here.

Coverings
Atlanta | April 22–25
Coverings is one of the largest ceramic tile and natural stone fairs in the country, featuring over 1,000 exhibitors, including Breton, Brazil Ceramic Tiles, and Deccan Stones. Along with exhibitors from 40 countries, the event will host educational and keynote presentations like “A New Harmony: The Future of Color and Design Trends” by Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute and the Eiseman Center for Color Information & Training. Design ADAC
Atlanta | April 23–25
Design ADAC, which is free to attend, offers three days of events, including keynote talks from industry stalwarts like Alexa Hampton, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Corey Damen Jenkins. Attendees can also experience showroom presentations from dozens of brands, such as Century Furniture, Made Goods and Pierre Frey, along with numerous other celebrations and collaborations.
