Resource Furniture is seeking a Senior Drafter to join our New York Showroom team.
The Senior Drafter will serve as a key technical partner to our Sales & Design Consultants (Retail and Contract), producing accurate, presentation-ready 2D drawings and 3D renderings that build client confidence, reduce risk, and ensure seamless execution from proposal through installation.This is a hands-on, technically rigorous role for a drafter who understands how design translates into fabrication and installation. The ideal candidate has produced detailed, buildable drawings for media units, storage systems, closets, cabinetry, or other built-in millwork, and has worked closely with sales teams, installers, and project managers.
Produce precise 2D floor plans and elevations that reflect real site conditions
Create high-quality 3D renderings and proposal visuals using SketchUp and Enscape (or comparable rendering tools)
Develop furniture configurations that account for clearances, access points, wall and ceiling conditions, electrical elevations, and wall blocking
Build expertise in proprietary product configurators
Anticipate installation challenges and flag issues early, including tolerance conflicts, uneven walls or floors, and site obstructions
Participate in occasional site visits and installations to validate measurements and confirm feasibility
Collaborate closely with installers and project managers to ensure designs translate accurately into real-world outcomes
Verify all drawings and proposals prior to order placement
Confirm measurements, finishes, and configuration constraints
Review order confirmations to ensure alignment with approved client specifications
Partner with Sales, Project Management, Production, and Purchasing throughout the full project lifecycle
Create technical documentation, tear sheets, and support files for internal and web use in collaboration with Marketing
Mentor junior team members and contribute to quality control standards and best practices
This position is fully in-person in our Midtown Manhattan showroom (969 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10022).
Tuesday–Friday (9:30am-6pm) | Saturday (11am-5pm)
No hybrid or remote option.
Required
• 7+ years drafting/design experience with custom or semi-custom built-ins (closets, cabinetry, storage systems, media units, etc.)
• Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Enscape or other rendering software
• Strong knowledge of architectural conditions and installation implications
• Proven track record of producing highly accurate, buildable drawings
