Job Description

Birgit Klein Interiors is looking for an experienced Designer/Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in luxury residential design. The Designer/Project Manager will assist the Creative Director/Principal on luxury residential projects from the conceptual design phase, design development through installation and completion. Birgit Klein Interiors is a boutique Interior Design studio based in Montecito, CA. Focused primarily on luxury residential design within the US and abroad. BKI was founded in London in 2005 before moving to the US in 2009.

Job Requirements

Ideal Candidate Must Have:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Interior Design/Interior Architecture.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in luxury residential design.
• Proficiency in CAD and Design Construction drawings.
• Working knowledge in Sketch-Up, 3-D Max, In Design, Photoshop and Microsoft Office
are beneficial and knowledge of Studio Designer a plus.
• Strong background in Interior Architecture with an elevated standard of technical
ability.
• Adhering to project budgets, projects costs, deadlines and experience in procurement
• Exemplary verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
• Commence & generate thorough design concepts with a clear understanding of project
requirements and benchmarks.
• Exhibit strong project management and project leadership skills.
• Creating and maintaining relationships with vendors, showrooms and projects contacts.
• Keen sense of spacial awareness, color and detail.
Role Breakdown and Responsibilities:
• Support and report directly to the Principal in the implementation and management of
several residential interior design projects from initial planning through project
completion.
• Impart solid leadership and impeccable service to our clients.
• Apply tactical thinking to projects, estimate possible issues and communicate clear
effective solutions.
• Prepare floor, space, furniture plans and elevations in AutoCAD and produce hand
drawings or computer drawings that communicate design intent.
• Prepare and maintain interior design documents such as plans, specifications,
templates, schedules and shop drawings.
• Attend company and client meetings, support Principal on conceptual & technical design
process. Applying expertise of planning process and building regulations where relevant.
• Review information received from the project team, contractors and suppliers/vendors.
Provide detailed progress notes.
