Purchasing & Quoting Coordinator
Company:
Eliot Wright Workroom, Inc
Duration:
Full-time
Date Posted:

Location:
Boston
Salary:
50-100k
We're hiring a Purchasing & Quoting Coordinator to run the day-to-day flow of quotes between our vendors, our workroom, and our designer clients.
A note on fit: this is a purchasing and quoting role, not a design role. You won't be selecting fabrics, developing concepts, or building a design portfolio. If you're looking for a stepping stone into design work, this isn't that job. If you like the trade, enjoy precision and vendor relationships, and want steady, meaningful work adjacent to design without the client-facing design responsibilities — this is a great fit.
You'll be trained by a team member with decades of workroom experience through the end of the year, so you'll have real, hands-on support getting up to speed on our vendors, pricing, and process.
What You'll Do
● Request, compare, and manage quotes from hardware and fabrication vendors
● Calculate and prepare labor and hardware quotes for interior designer clients
● Communicate directly with designers to clarify project specs and pricing
● Coordinate with vendors on pricing, availability, and order details
● Enter and manage quotes and project data in Design Manager — training provided
● Keep quote and order documentation organized and current
What We're Looking For
● Strong comfort with math and calculations (yardage, markups, unit pricing)
● Excellent written and verbal communication with both designers and vendors
● Comfortable learning new software quickly
● Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-minded
● Familiarity with drapery, workroom, or trade terminology is a real plus — prior experience in a workroom, fabrication shop, purchasing role, or trades-adjacent operations position is ideal
● Ability to read scaled plans and elevations is a plus — we often plan work on houses that are still under construction (not required, but a valuable skill to have)
● Not a fit if your goal is to build toward design work — this role stays focused on purchasing and quoting
We're an established, high-end custom drapery and soft furnishings workroom in Boston, working directly with interior designers across the region to bring their window treatment and soft furnishing specs to life. We are a 22-person company with deep, longstanding relationships across Boston's design community.
What We Offer
● Health insurance (company pays 75% of individual premium)
● Vision insurance (company paid)
● Dental insurance available (employee paid)
● 401(k) with company match up to 4%
● Paid time off: accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked (up to 40 hours) in your first year, available after a 90-day probationary period; 1 week PTO the following January 1, increasing to 2 weeks after your first anniversary, 3 weeks after 5 years, and 4 weeks after 10 years
● Hands-on training from an experienced team member through the end of the year
