Colin King Studio is looking for a Product Designer to join our studio and work closely with Colin across product development and design.

We’re looking for someone who can take an idea from a sketch, reference, conversation, or sometimes a fairly vague hand gesture and help turn it into a real object.

The role will span concept development, proportion, materiality, technical drawings, renderings, prototyping, and production across a range of categories and materials.

Responsibilities:

Develop concepts alongside Colin from initial idea through production.
Translate sketches, references, and creative direction into thoughtful, resolved product designs.
Create detailed 3D models, renderings, technical drawings, and specifications.
Research and develop materials, finishes, construction methods, and manufacturing possibilities.
Work directly with fabricators, artisans, vendors, and manufacturers through sampling and prototyping.
Review samples and prototypes and manage revisions through final approval.
Help establish and maintain an organized product development library of drawings, specifications, materials, samples, and prototypes.

Qualifications:

Strong product or industrial design background with an exceptional eye for proportion, form, material, and detail.
Fluency in Rhino and rendering software, with strong Adobe Creative Suite skills.
Ability to translate conceptual ideas into detailed 3D models and production-ready drawings.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes across wood, metal, glass, stone, ceramics, upholstery, and textiles.
Experience developing prototypes and working directly with fabricators, artisans, and manufacturers.
A deep curiosity about decorative arts, furniture, architecture, art, and design history.
Ability to move comfortably between categories and scales.
Collaborative, curious, resourceful, and comfortable working within a small studio.
