We are looking for an Intermediate/Senior Interior Designer (4–7 years experience) to join our growing team on a freelance basis. This is an opportunity for someone who is ready to take ownership of projects while working closely with the Principal Designer in a collaborative, creative environment.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, strong technical knowledge, excellent design instincts, and the ability to confidently manage multiple projects from concept through installation. We're looking for someone who thrives working independently, takes initiative, communicates proactively, and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
This is primarily a remote position, with regular site visits, installations, client meetings, and vendor appointments throughout the San Francisco Peninsula. Candidates must be located in the Bay Area, with preference given to those located near Menlo Park.
- Manage residential interior design projects from concept through installation.
- Develop creative design concepts, space planning, and presentation materials.
- Source furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes, plumbing fixtures, hardware, art, and accessories.
- Design and develop custom cabinetry, millwork, and furniture.
- Prepare construction drawings, interior elevations, millwork details, specifications, schedules, and design documentation.
- Produce polished client presentations and visual materials.
- Communicate directly with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, vendors, and workrooms throughout each project.
- Procurement, and installation of furnishings and custom pieces.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, vendor appointments, and installations.
Qualifications
- 4–7 years of professional experience in high-end residential interior design.
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of residential construction, detailing, custom millwork, and interior documentation.
- Excellent knowledge of furniture, lighting, materials, finishes, and custom fabrication.
- Experience managing projects through all phases, from concept to completion.
- Exceptional organization and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- A proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented mindset.
- Confidence working independently while collaborating effectively with a small team.
- Strong design sensibility with an excellent eye for scale, proportion, color, and detail.
- Familiarity with Bay Area vendors, showrooms, and trade resources is preferred.
