Job Description

An Intermediate Designer role at our office requires experience, knowledge, and imaginative capacity in both creating and managing very specialized work. Intermediate Designers facilitate any design work in the office through project management, coordination, drafting and support to the senior design team and Principal. Expert drafting skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities/Expectations…

- Manage design projects, under guidance of Senior Designer or Principal.
- Generate professional and detailed drawings, project sketches, space planning, floor plans, elevations in CAD or sketch form as - -
necessary to facilitate concepts and design.
- Generate detailed drawings of custom furniture, millwork and interior architecture.
- Produce presentations to illustrate design intent. Assemble presentation boards.
- Redline and review architects’ drawings submitted for project review
- Site work, travel to project sites. Attend construction and client meetings.
- Generate finish, hardware, plumbing and paint schedules.
- Specify and source fabrics, materials, floor coverings, wall coverings, and furniture per project requirements.
- Produce proposals and manage procurement and expediting process.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries and installations.
- Communicate with clients in a professional manner via phone, video calls, email, site and office meetings, messaging, etc.
- Professionally represent the office publicly, at fairs, seminars or shopping for projects.
- Be motivated, resourceful and take initiative.

Job Requirements

Essential Skills…

- Industry-recognized education/background in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience at a contemporary residential design firm.
- Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite & Sketch-up.
- Strong technical and practical understanding of architectural conventions, including floor plans, furniture layouts, elevations, sections,
RCP, electrical, and millwork.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent presentation skills and graphic design and layout capabilities.
- Job site experience including work with architects, builders, and landscape architects, measuring, and producing as-built documents.
- Be knowledgeable in sourcing contemporary, custom, vintage, and antique furnishings both locally and internationally.
- Experience coordinating with industry trades.
- General understanding of the methods/process/manufacturing for: upholstery, millwork, custom furnishings, lighting fabrication,
decorative finishes, drapery/soft goods, sewing, weaving and fabrics, carpet qualities and install methods, antique and vintage repair,
woodworking, metal fabrication, stone, tile, paint, wallcovering, flooring, bath fittings, hardware.
- Familiarity with decorative arts, accessories, tableware, flatware, collecting, craft and the visual arts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Ability to create and manage Excel spreadsheets
- Proficiency in Studio Designer software or similar.
- Experience with commercial/hospitality design a plus.
- Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle required
- Self-starter with the ability to work productively and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to change and shifting priorities.
- High level of attention to detail and follow-up.
