Job Description

Martha Mulholland Interior Design is seeking an experienced Designer and Project Manager to join our Los Angeles-based team!

Role and Responsibilities:

Support Principal with schematic design and design development, including concept generation, research, sourcing ideas and visual inspiration.
Support Principal with FF&E sourcing, finish selections, material selections and designs for custom furniture.
Develop and draft architectural drawings, including plans, elevations and designs for custom FF&E.
Create and maintain project documents, including purchasing budgets, sourcing schedules, construction schedules, specification packages and inventories.
Create design presentations, including mood boards, furniture schemes, material palettes and other visual assets for client meetings.
Manage client expectations, anticipate project needs, identify solutions to potential problems and communicate clearly and thoughtfully with clients, contractors, vendors and consultants.
Generate proposals, invoices and purchase orders using studio procurement software.
Coordinate with vendors on open orders, ensure details are correct, samples are provided and deadlines are met.

Job Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Art History or related field.
4–7 years of experience managing multiple projects from concept through completion.
Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace. (Advanced 3D modeling software is a plus!)
Strong understanding of the process, phases and language of commercial and residential architecture and construction.
Experience drafting detailed architectural drawings and creating specification schedules, budget spreadsheets, purchase proposals and purchase orders.
Familiar with top showrooms, galleries, makers and other trade resources in Los Angeles and abroad.
Passionate and well versed in the history of decorative arts, design and architecture and comfortable working across a wide range of styles, periods, and project types.
Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive, with the ability to anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and identify potential issues before they arise.
Clear, warm, and professional communication skills in both written and verbal formats, with careful attention to tone, spelling and grammar.
Comfortable multitasking, working independently without direction from Principal, resourceful and confident.
Comfortable working in a small, close-knit studio environment where collaboration and contribution to all aspects of the practice are essential.
