Job Description

Palomino Interior Design is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer with 3–5 years of professional experience who is highly organized, thoughtful, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This role supports the design team through every phase of a project — from initial concept development through procurement and final installation — while playing an active role in shaping spaces that feel personal, layered, and enduring. The ideal candidate brings strong technical proficiency, a refined design sensibility, and a proactive mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs, problem-solve gracefully, and manage details with care and precision.
You will work closely with the Principal and the broader team to help ensure projects are executed seamlessly and held to the highest standard. This position involves ongoing coordination with clients, consultants, vendors, fabricators, and contractors, requiring both a strong understanding of high-end residential design and an appreciation for the complexities of custom construction and procurement.

Job Requirements

This is a hybrid position requiring at least one day per week in-office, along with site visits and project meetings throughout the tri-state area as needed. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience working in high-end residential design.
-Collaborate with principal designer in order to prepare, develop, and produce concept images, mood boards, renderings, and presentation materials.
-Source, coordinate FF&E selections, including materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, hardware, and accessories for projects in accordance with project budget and schedule.
-Prepare, develop and produce project drawing sets including as-built floor plans, conceptual drawings/sketches, furniture plans, elevations, electrical plans, reflected ceiling plans, lighting plans, sections, millwork drawings and detail drawings.
-Produce, organize, and maintain comprehensive drawing sets, schedules, and specifications with a high degree of accuracy
-Participate in the coordination loop with architects, general contractors, millworkers, and specialty vendors
-Internally communicate project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, flag risks early with ability to drive resolution quickly
-Assist with site activities including measurements, documentation, installations, showroom visits, and construction site coordination.
-Produce client-facing presentations and design documents in both digital and physical formats.
-Attend, participate and contribute in meetings with clients, internal team, contractors, sub-contractors and vendors by preparing agendas, taking meeting notes and preparing meeting minutes and follow up on action items.
-Strong technical skills required. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Canva, Asana & Studio Designer required; SketchUp/Rhino/InDesign and hand-sketching a plus.
-Ability to manage multiple projects, proactively identifying problems and developing solutions to minimize delays and inefficiencies with strong communication and adaptability.
