The Archers is an AD100 team of designers, architects, artists and cinephiles based in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The studio’s work comprises buildings, interiors and furnishings for private homes and public spaces.
The Archers is seeking a talented Designer to join its growing design team in LA. This role will be an integral part of the wider studio team reporting directly to the Creative Director and Interior Project Lead.
Your Role:
The Archers' work spans architecture, interiors and furniture. The nature of the studio’s work and collaborative approach means the Interior Designer will play an important part throughout the design process across projects – but with a particular emphasis on drawings (both furniture and construction) and visual presentation materials.
The right candidate will be from an interiors or architecture background and have a passion for and knowledge of historic and contemporary architecture.
Your responsibilities:
Concept and design development: Work with the team to support and provide input into concept generation, carry out research and provide design inspiration and input to the wider team.
Client communications: Experience of communicating directly with clients – via email, phone and in-person meetings. Ability to communicate thoughtfully, clearly and accurately and ensure the wider team is kept apprised of all relevant project information.
Presentation preparation : Prepare and collate the visual materials needed to communicate our design thinking to clients - through renders, illustrations and reference image collation.
Drawings and Specifications: Develop and refine documentation as needed during design development, and construction documentation phases including; plans, elevations and renders, finish and fixture schedules and custom furniture and millwork drawings.
Project management: Support the project lead by providing meeting documentation, attending site and providing project coordination as needed.
Technical proficiency:
Experienced in software (Rhino, AutoCad, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Workspace).
Highly skilled at producing visual information including renders, sketches, hand-drawings as needed to best communicate design internally and in client presentations.
Your skills, experience and attributes:
4+ years of Interior Design in a similar role at a design firm.
Experience in high-end residential and commercial projects.
Experience in supporting and working with a wider project team in executing architectural and interior projects – from concept development through to final finish.
Excellent communication skills - able to present and communicate with clients and wider project team in a professional and clear way to support smooth project running.
Ability to multitask, work independently as well as in a team
Empathy for great design, strong visual skills, with attention to detail, composition, light, colour and form.
Calm, mature and professional.
Self-motivated - able to work independently whilst always keeping the wider team informed of progress.
Analytical with a proactive approach to problem solving.
