Staprans Design is seeking a proactive, organized, and detail-oriented Interior Designer with approximately 2-5 years of experience to join a highly personalized design practice. The role involves providing direct support to the Principal Designer on a wide range of project responsibilities from conception to installation. This position is based in the SF Bay Area Peninsula, in Portola Valley, California and will require regular time in the office, project sites, showrooms, and vendor locations throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the design and execution of high-end residential and select commercial interior design projects from concept through installation.
• Develop and maintain technical drawings, elevations, furnishing plans, and design documentation using AutoCAD.
• Assist with sourcing furniture, finishes, materials, plumbing fixtures, decorative lighting, textiles, and accessories.
• Support the preparation of presentations, design boards, specifications, and other client-facing materials.
• Provide regular project updates and communicate proactively regarding project status, deadlines, and outstanding items.
• Assist with project scheduling, documentation, and tracking using Asana and other project management tools.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, architects, consultants, and trades to support project execution.
• Manage purchasing process for custom and trade goods, leveraging Studio Designer to ensure accurate budgets, specifications, and tracking.
• Support on-site installations at job sites, visit trade showrooms, participate in site visits
• Maintain organized digital and physical project files; assist with office design resources such as library, samples, as needed.
• Help foster an organized, professional, and welcoming studio environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
• 2-5 years of residential interior design experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, working knowledge of Studio Designer, Asana, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop), SketchUp, and Google Workspace in a PC environment. Experience with AI tools / Claude a plus.
• Familiarity with residential construction, renovations, custom furnishings, specifications, and project coordination.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel throughout the Bay Area with occasional travel beyond to locations such as Lake Tahoe and Sonoma County.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment.
• Ability to be in-person in our Portola Valley office for the first 3 to 6 months, with flexible hybrid arrangements available thereafter.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. Sponsorship is not offered for this position.
