JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing, managing and streamlining studio operations. This candidate will create project timelines, manage day- to day tasks of the studio team, ensure seamless communication and coordination to successfully execute large-scale projects and implement effective processes and systems to ensure workflow efficiency at the highest caliber. This role requires a candidate capable of building client relationships, managing expectations and keeping vendors on task. The ideal candidate is a leader with a strong background in project management and operations with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in interior design.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include but are not limited to:
• Manage the overall operations of the studio; prioritize and calendarize each project, allocate project resources, liaise with vendors accordingly and manage studio workflow
• Build and nurture client relationships from inception to completion of a project life cycle
• Create and negotiate client and vendor contracts
• Build and foster relationships and network of workrooms, showrooms and vendors
• Monitor and manage budgets and performance on projects
• Oversee the development of design presentations, project timelines, FF&E budgets and schedules and ensure effective and timely communication to clients and cross-functional partners
• Supervise, guide and review all Project Managers’ work to ensure feasibility, functionality and design standards across all studio projects
• Partner with and manage communication and workflow with architects, general contractors, lighting designers and AV consultants to ensure seamless execution leading up to install
• Communicate design direction and material selections for construction sets to ensure design intent is realized and installs are executed at the highest caliber
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and meet client expectations
• Monitor project milestones, identify potential issues and proactively implement solutions
• Lead the team in large-scale on-site installations
• Manage relationships with artisans, galleries and workrooms to design custom commissions and site-specific installations
• Seek out new production partners, workrooms and specialized artisans to create and collaborate on custom furniture and installations
• Oversee vendors and conduct quality control and workroom visits when necessary
• Grow product licensing relationships across multiple categories to increase business footprint and brand awareness
• Hire, manage, mentor and oversee the growth and development of all team members
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10+ years experience with high-end residential and / or hospitality interiors in a leadership role
• Confident in ability to mange high-level clients with grace, care and efficiency
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and lead multiple teams and projects at the same time
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
• Holds themselves and others to the highest ethical standards
• Possess a passion for art, architecture and design
• A problem-solver and “do-er”; no task is too small and no stone is unturned attitude
• Impeccable etiquette, poised and polished with a professional mindset
• Extensive experience and knowledge of the design and construction process, including custom millwork, furniture and lighting design
• Proficient in Houzz Pro, Studio Designer, MS Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Power Point, Publisher, Excel; working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Ability to work in-person 5 days a week in New York City
Salary is commensurate with experience. Candidate must be either a U.S. citizen or have a valid employment visa to work in the U.S. and be presently located in the New York.
