CeCe Barfield Inc. is seeking a Design Assistant to join our San Antonio studio.
Working closely with the firm's principal and New York design studio, this role will support the execution of high-end residential projects from concept through installation. The position offers the opportunity to gain experience across every phase of the design process while working on projects throughout Texas, New York, and across the United States.
We are looking for someone with a strong design eye, exceptional organizational skills, and a genuine appreciation for thoughtful, layered interiors. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, detail-oriented, resourceful, a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced studio environment. They should enjoy balancing creative work with the precision and follow-through required to bring exceptional projects to life.
RESPONSABILIES
Assist the design team throughout all phases of residential interior design projects, from concept development through installation.
Research and source furniture, lighting, textiles, antiques, art, finishes, and decorative objects.
Prepare design presentations, material palettes, and client presentation materials.
Develop floor plans, elevations, and drawing sets in AutoCAD.
Assist in the design and development of custom furniture, cabinetry, upholstery, window treatments, and bespoke details.
Coordinate with vendors, workrooms, artisans, and contractors throughout the design process.
Support project procurement, including purchase orders, vendor correspondence, tracking shipments, monitoring lead times, and resolving order issues.
Maintain project schedules, specifications, budgets, and procurement documentation.
Assist with installations, styling, photoshoots, and project travel as needed.
Provide administrative and purchasing support to our New York Studio Production Manager, including coordinating orders, maintaining procurement records, tracking vendor communications, and assisting with day-to-day operational needs between our San Antonio and New York studios.
Travel periodically to our New York studio and project sites throughout the United States.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Architecture
2–4 years of professional experience in residential interior design preferred.
Experience with luxury residential projects is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite is required.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
A proactive, positive attitude and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
Interest in antiques, architecture, decorative arts, and craftsmanship.
Willingness to travel as projects require.
