Working with the Principal and design team, the Designer acts as administrative and design support on all phases of high-end, residential interior design projects. This position requires knowledge of interior design and a strong ability to organize information, manage time and documentation, and follow through on assignments under deadline pressure.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
• Work with the Principal, Project Manager, and rest of design team on design and administrative tasks related to all phases of high-end, residential interior design from initial planning through project completion.
• Work with the Project Manager and team to assemble design presentations.
• Gather detailed information and quotes for preparation of accurate design proposals. Create and prepare proposals and proposal packages for submission to clients.
• Maintain continual communication with Principal and design team staff regarding project timelines and orders, including the progress of custom orders, timing for fabric selections, workroom inspections, and other project-related information.
• Research and supply information to design team for creation of project budgets.
• Track and coordinate all reserves, CFA’s, lead times, inspections, deliveries, and installations. Schedule review of items for approval with vendor and client.
• Support the design team in the preparation of floor, space, and furniture plans and elevations in AutoCAD or ArchiCAD, and the production of hand drawings or computer renderings that communicate design intent.
• Support the design team in the preparation and maintenance of interior design plan documents: finish schedules, specifications, product/room matrixes, templates, schedules, and shop drawings.
• Assist the design team with product sourcing and installations.
• Develop long-term relationships with clients, design showrooms, and vendors.
• Maintain all project-related information in paper filing systems, electronic folders, and Design Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
• 2 or 4-year degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture or equivalent skill set
• At least three to five years of experience in high-end residential design
• Some administrative experience
• Experience and comfort working in a dynamic, fast-paced studio environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Must be detail-oriented, organized, accurate and consistent in all paperwork and data management
• Creative problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/ ArchiCAD a must. SketchUp a plus
• Knowledge of Design Manager or similar programs
• Strong, clear and service-oriented communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work within a team and proactively create harmonious and professional relationships
• Interest in furniture and product design a plus
