Jessica Schuster Design is seeking a talented and highly organized Architectural & FF&E
Designer to join our New York–based studio. This role is ideal for a designer with a strong
architectural foundation, a sophisticated design sensibility, and experience carrying high-end
residential projects from concept through installation.
The Architectural & FF&E Designer will work closely with the Principal and senior design team
across all phases of a project, contributing to both the architectural/interior design and decorative
aspects of our work. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing detailed drawing sets
and sourcing a one-of-a-kind vintage piece, with a strong understanding of how architecture,
materials, furniture, and objects come together to create a cohesive interior.
Responsibilities
• Develop design concepts from schematic design through construction documentation and
installation
• Produce and maintain detailed architectural drawing sets, including plans, elevations,
reflected ceiling plans, millwork, custom furniture, and interior details
• Develop kitchen, bathroom, built-in, and custom millwork designs
• Coordinate architectural details, finishes, fixtures, and equipment with architects,
contractors, fabricators, and consultants
• Source and specify furniture, lighting, fabrics, rugs, wallcoverings, finishes, plumbing
fixtures, hardware, and accessories, especially vintage and collectible design
• Prepare FF&E presentations, schedules, specifications, and budgets
• Design and develop custom furniture and furnishings in collaboration with vendors and
fabricators
• Request and review samples, shop drawings, finish samples, and strike-offs
• Attend site meetings and conduct site visits to review design intent and resolve field
conditions
• Coordinate with vendors and the procurement team throughout ordering, production,
delivery, and installation
• Maintain organized project documentation, specifications, schedules, and design libraries

Qualifications
• Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
• 5+ years of professional experience, preferably within a high-end residential interior
design or architecture studio
• Strong architectural drafting and technical detailing skills
• Demonstrated experience with FF&E sourcing, specification, and custom furniture
development
• Excellent knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, textiles, and decorative
arts
• Proficiency in AutoCAD required; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft
Office required
• Experience with SketchUp, Studio Designer, or similar design/project management
software is a plus
• Ability to read and coordinate architectural, consultant, and shop drawings
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional organization and attention to detail
• Ability to balance creative thinking with the technical and logistical demands of complex
projects
• Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly creative studio environment
