Companies often look to creatives—interior designers, product designers, costume designers and artists—to collaborate on product development. As part of an ongoing series, Editor at Large is highlighting a number of creative unions that are in the works this summer from ARTE, Hygge & West, Fritz Hansen, JANUS et Cie, Jaipur Rugs, Silestone , PBTeen and Walmart.com.
ARTE and Les Couleurs Suisse AG have collaborated on their first collection of wallcoverings based on the designs and aesthetic of Le Corbusier, the founding father of Modernism. In cooperation with Fritz Hansen, the high-end fashion brand Han Kjøbenhavn has created a homage to one of Arne Jacobsen’s iconic chairs—the Grand Prix. The chair has an oil-finished oak or walnut seat and legs in black-stained oak. It is for sale for a limited time.
Italian architect and designer Paola Navone has created a second collection for JANUS et Cie known as Strada with rounded forms, dusty hues and Art Deco details. The collection of indoor/outdoor furnishings is fit for contract, hospitality and residential design projects and is comprised of nearly a dozen pieces emphasizing European-inspired low, relaxed seating in more than 200 indoor and outdoor textiles from the JANUS textile collections.
