Companies often look to creatives—interior designers, product designers, costume designers and artists—to collaborate on product development. As part of an ongoing series, Editor at Large is highlighting a number of creative unions that are in the works this summer from ARTE, Hygge & West, Fritz Hansen, JANUS et Cie, Jaipur Rugs, Silestone , PBTeen and Walmart.com.

ARTE and Les Couleurs Suisse AG have collaborated on their first collection of wallcoverings based on the designs and aesthetic of Le Corbusier, the founding father of Modernism. The collection comprises five patterns and 13 solids, including distinctly modern designs incorporating elements of his architectural masterpieces to timeless takes on geometrics including dots and squares.

Rifle Paper Company has teamed up with Hygge & West, a Minneapolis-based wallpaper company, to offer six designs. This collection marks Hygge & West’s first partnership with an established brand. The line features popular Rifle patterns including Rosa, Peonies, City Toile and two brand-new designs Safari and Pineapple.

In cooperation with Fritz Hansen, the high-end fashion brand Han Kjøbenhavn has created a homage to one of Arne Jacobsen’s iconic chairs—the Grand Prix. The result is a contemporary interpretation of Grand Prix with a back made of black tubular steel and woven flag halyard. The chair has an oil-finished oak or walnut seat and legs in black-stained oak. It is for sale for a limited time.

Italian architect and designer Paola Navone has created a second collection for JANUS et Cie known as Strada with rounded forms, dusty hues and Art Deco details. The collection of indoor/outdoor furnishings is fit for contract, hospitality and residential design projects and is comprised of nearly a dozen pieces emphasizing European-inspired low, relaxed seating in more than 200 indoor and outdoor textiles from the JANUS textile collections.

Silestone has selected five “trendspotters” from across the country to share their design expertise and regional market insight for the development of the next color series for the Silestone natural quartz line. The trendspotters include Courtney Cachet, Julia Buckingham, Kerrie Kelly, Kim Lewis and Mark Williams who will join Cosentino’s head of product development, Valentin Tijeras Garcia, for a creative design session in New York City. This summer, the Trendspotters will travel to Cosentino’s global headquarters in Almeria, Spain, to test their initial colors. The final hues will be tested in the marketplace and sent into production in time for the unveiling at KBIS 2015.

PBteen has launched a collection in collaboration with artist Zio Ziegler consisting of 32 products that reflect the artist’s bold graphic signature and affinity for urban edge. The collection includes bedding, rugs, wall décor, decorative accessories and gear.

Designer Jennifer Adams and Jaipur Rugs have joined forces to co-create a new, three-pronged Livable Luxury collection of rugs, decorative pillows and poufs—a first for the rug company. The line starts out with 40 styles in a range of constructions, weaves and textures, and colors as well as broad price points.

Interior designer Libby Langdon has created "warm&inviting by Libby Langdon” in partnership with Walmart.com. Each of her six new collections include mix-and-match accent pillows, pouf ottomans, throw blankets and rugs in multiple colors, textures and looks—"Chic and Cheerful," "Sophisticated Style," "Cool and Current," "Soft and Serene," "Color Pop" and "Beach House." Langdon has also designed rooms showcasing each collection, which are featured online, incorporating existing Walmart furnishings and accessories along with her tips to create the designer look at home.
