The American Society of Furniture Designers recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Pinnacle Awards, which were created by the ASFD board of directors to encourage design quality as well as promote the recognition of designers in the retail home furnishings industry. There were 40 percent more entries this year, and 50 percent more entries in the student category. Says ASFD executive director John Conrad, “The prestige of this program just continues to grow, and that’s exciting for our industry.”
A group of 12 industry pros judged the entries, based on criteria including innovation, form and function, retailer and manufacturing benefit, and consumer benefit. The winners were announced at a banquet held at High Point Market on October 19. Winners include:
