ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an exceptionally organized, client-savvy Studio Project Manager to own the operational side of our projects from design sign-off through installation. This is primarily an execution role to start — but for the right person, it grows into a position with significant creative and design input over time. Think less junior designer, more luxury service professional who happens to have a great eye.
If you’ve ever been described as someone who anticipates problems before they happen, communicates proactively without being asked, and takes pride in making a principal’s life easier — this role was written for you.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
• Manage all active projects from design approval and client payment through to installation, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
• Maintain a clear, up-to-date pulse on every project — tracking critical dates, open items, and upcoming milestones across all jobs simultaneously
• Proactively brief the principal weekly and monthly on what’s on the horizon, what needs decisions, and what’s at risk
• Serve as the primary point of contact with clients on the firm’s behalf — emails, follow-ups, status updates — always reflecting the JLID brand voice
• Coordinate logistics for installations and key project milestones, working across our procurement, CAD, and contractor teams
• Manage and organize the principal’s inbox, filtering, drafting, and responding as directed
• Maintain organized, up-to-date client project files
• Identify items that need to be custom-made or sourced and flag them with context and urgency
• Attend weekly Monday team meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years’ experience in a similar industry: residential interior design, residential architecture, construction, or home industry retail
• A problem solver who thinks outside the box and finds a way to execute without being told twice
• Someone with luxury service, retail, or client management experience — a background in high-end retail, hospitality, or a design-adjacent field is a strong plus
• Financially literate and comfortable working in spreadsheets, running reports, and tracking budgets
• Discreet, diplomatic, and completely trustworthy with confidential client and financial information
• Warm, polished, and confident communicating with high-end clients
• Self-directed and proactive — you tell your principal what’s coming, you don’t wait to be asked
• Familiarity with Studio Designer, Canva, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
• Valid CA driver’s license and reliable vehicle preferred
