We’re hiring a Studio Director at a defining moment for the firm. A few years in, we’ve reached an inflection point most firms spend a decade chasing - exceptional clients, an extraordinary pipeline, and opportunities that will shape Haldon House’s next chapter.
Working closely with the Founder & Creative Director, the Studio Director will lead the design studio, providing the design leadership, operational rigor, and judgment that keep exceptional work moving. The Creative Director sets the overall creative vision; the Studio Director carries that vision through the studio - guiding design leads, resolving day-to-day design decisions, developing the team, and maintaining an uncompromising standard of quality.
The Studio Director will run internal design reviews, bring seasoned perspective to project challenges, and coach design leads to become stronger designers, decision-makers, and managers. They’ll also oversee the schedules and studio rhythms that keep projects moving, work with the Founders on staffing and capacity, and help build a culture of high standards, low ego, and real mentorship.

We’re looking for a senior design leader with 8–12+ years of experience in a high-end residential, commercial, hospitality, or architectural studio, including significant experience leading design teams and complex projects. Ideally, this is someone who has grown from design into leadership rather than moving exclusively into operations.
Candidates should bring a strong design point of view and deep fluency in the full design process - from concept and schematic design through documentation, procurement, and installation. They should be able to read a drawing set, weigh in confidently on the work, give designers clear and useful guidance, and bring the practical judgment that comes from years of navigating complex projects.
The right person will have a demonstrated track record of building and developing high-performing teams, including mentoring designers, developing emerging managers, managing performance, and creating an environment where talented people can do exceptional work. They should be equally comfortable in a design review and in the operational side of running a studio - understanding how budgets, schedules, procurement, staffing, and capacity affect the work.
Experience improving studio systems, SOPs, templates, resourcing models, and design software is highly valued, as is an interest in how technology and AI can create leverage without compromising the standard of the work.

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture, or equivalent professional experience.
