Job Description

Tantalus Studio is seeking a highly organized, creative, and tech-savvy Design Assistant to support our interior design team. This is currently a 20-hour-per-week, in-person role with the potential to grow into additional hours.

This position requires a flexible, well-rounded team member who can support the everyday needs of a busy design studio, from maintaining studio systems and materials to assisting designers with active projects. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and willing to jump in wherever needed to help the team achieve its goals.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing creative work with behind-the-scenes coordination and wants to gain hands-on experience within a collaborative design studio. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist interior designers with design presentations, client proposals, and maintain project documentation.
- Obtain pricing and product information from vendors, request quotes, and coordinate sample orders.
- Manage and maintain the firm's materials library, ensuring samples are organized and current.
- Organize and maintain digital assets in SharePoint, including project files, images, videos, and other documentation.
- Manage the studio's social media accounts by creating and scheduling content that reflects the firm's aesthetic and brand.
- Provide general project support, including product research, sourcing, and administrative coordination.
- Help maintain an organized, functional, and welcoming studio environment, including organizing supplies, materials, and shared workspaces.
- Perform other design and administrative tasks as needed to support the team.

Job Requirements

- Degree or coursework in Interior Design or a related design field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to create thoughtful, organized systems.
- Strong graphic design sensibility and an eye for layout and presentation.
- Ability to support designers throughout the design process while helping maintain day-to-day studio operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Studio Designer, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfortable learning new technology and managing digital file systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced studio environment.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to contribute as part of a collaborative team.
- Previous experience in residential interior design is preferred but not required.
- Experience leveraging AI tools (such as Claude or similar platforms) to improve workflow efficiency is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a Windows (PC)-based office environment.
