Spectrum Interior Design is seeking a Lead Interior Designer to lead the technical execution of luxury custom residential estates. This senior role blends technical mastery with team leadership.
You will translate the Principal Designer’s vision into highly resolved, buildable documentation while guiding the design team through execution. As the studio’s authority on technical design, you will ensure clarity, consistency, and precision across all project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead technical design and documentation from concept through construction
Oversee AutoCAD drawing sets including plans, elevations, sections, and details
Develop complex detailing for millwork, cabinetry, and custom elements
Collaborate with the Principal Designer to refine and execute cohesive design packages
Manage project timelines, scopes, and coordination with architects, contractors, and vendors
Support construction administration, site visits, and installations
Establish and uphold studio documentation standards and workflows
Mentor and guide designers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team

Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
8+ years of experience in high-end residential design or architecture
Proven experience leading technical design for large-scale custom homes (4,000+ sq ft)
Expert proficiency in AutoCAD
Strong understanding of construction methods and custom fabrication
Skills & Leadership
Advanced ability to produce detailed construction documentation
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Strong communication skills across clients, consultants, and internal teams
Demonstrated experience mentoring and leading designers
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Tools
AutoCAD required
Familiarity with Asana, Photoshop, and Studio Designer is a plus
Additional Requirements
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Willingness to travel locally for site visits and installations
Portfolio Requirement
Submit a portfolio demonstrating technical expertise in high-end residential projects, including construction drawings, millwork detailing, and completed work.
Final candidates may complete a technical AutoCAD assessment and design exercise.
